The Advanced Color Selector is a 32-bit Windows application with the ability to interactively choose colors for your HTML page. Colors can be chosen:

  1. from a list of color names,
  2. by adjusting the scrollbars
  3. or entering the RGB or Hex values in the text fields.

A sample of the selected color is provided to facilitate selection. After a selection is made, the Set Color button can be used to set one of the colors in a preview document.

Colors can also be chosen from the Web-safe palette which is located in a separate tab. This set of 215 colors is displayed in a grid format for easy selection. The currently selected color can be identified by the white box in the grid. After a color is selected, it can be used to set one of the colors in the preview document.

The Advanced Color Selector also supports changing of font characteristics of the preview document. This feature can be used to verify the effectiveness of the color scheme when using different font sizes. The Fonts tab contains a list of all the fonts currently installed on the system and allows you to preview them before setting the font in the preview document. The font style and font size can also be changed. After a font is selected, the Set Font button can be used to set the font of the preview document.

The complete <BODY> tag for the preview document is displayed and updated with every change of the color scheme. The tag contains the colors for the BODY, TEXT, LINK, VLINK and ALINK elements in Hex format. The tag can be copied onto the Clipboard for pasting into a HTML editor with the To Clipboard button. A blank HTML file with the current tag can also be created by using the Create HTML File button or by selecting the Save Tag to File menu item from the File menu.

Once a color scheme has been arrived at by selecting colors for each element of the BODY tag, the scheme can be saved from the Schemes tab. The current color scheme is displayed in the Current Scheme: panel of the Schemes tab. The Save As button can be used to add the scheme to the Saved Schemes list under a user-defined name. Scheme names and colors will be saved and can be recalled the next time the application is run. Schemes can be deleted with the Delete button. The currently selected scheme can be applied to the preview document with the Apply button.
